Complete Exterior Waterproofing & Drainage

We understand the proper use of waterproofing materials, from roll-on or spray-on rubberized sealants, to Bituthene rubberized barriers, to dimple board and J-drain wall mats. Using at least two of these three materials allows us to protect the surface of your foundation walls and footings.  These solutions also direct water to foundation drainage systems eliminating hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure is where basement flooding, failed foundation walls, and aggressive foundation settling often originate.

Exterior Sloping & Drainage

Routing surface water away from the home prevents water issues in the foundation or basement. Installing subsurface drains to the gutter downspouts moves roof water away from the house. Creating a positive slope away from the foundation is important. Installing French drains and landscape catch basins actively removes standing water from the lawn and flower beds. Sometimes these simple mitigations are the answer to big water problems. Sexton Brothers can help you decide whether the simplest solution might be the best solution.

Crawl Space Encapsulation

Encapsulation is a surefire way to regulate the moisture levels in a crawl space.

  • Sealing the crawlspace from the ground and foundation walls, installing dehumidifiers and sump pumps prevents most moisture related damage to floor system.

  • We recommend encapsulations coupled with proper sloping and drainage around the exterior of the home. We prefer to do everything reasonable from the exterior to prevent the need for an encapsulation. Moving surface water away from the exterior of the foundation is usually the most cost-effective option and can be the best way to protect the structural integrity of the concrete, steel, and wood that make up your foundation structure.

Did you know?

  • Unfortunately, there are times when extensive mitigation, such as digging up the foundation, or installing a full encapsulation, are the only option. And yes, these types of projects can be costly. But sometimes, simpler and more cost-effective solutions are the answer. Very often, a bad gutter guard or drain line can be dumping roof water right against the foundation. Sometimes, it’s as simple as sloping ground away from the foundation and installing a French drain to help move the water away. Sexton Brothers can help you weigh your options and come up with the best solution for your situation.
